The shadows lengthened over the city as the sun set. The city hummed with the invading hordes of concert goers panting to feel the Skylar experience. Even with the inevitable congestion, both vehicular and human, the mood across the city was high. Only the cities police seemed to show any concern over the crowds that had them stretched thin across the city.

Skylar’s concert! Krickett counted down on the calendar, had anticipated the day, red X’s drawn carefully as she arose at night and went about her activities. She was happy the others were letting her out to play they could be bossy but she had not had to play catch up on the calendar to often.

She left her room after grabbing a handful of her pills and popped them like M&M’s as she headed towards the common room. She hoped Babadora and Kyoko were there for they would know what she should wear and maybe they would help her with her hair. She was thinking blue streaks might be nice. She wanted to look like she was cool and not a dweeb.

Popping into the common room Krickett looked about popping another pill into her mouth and called out “Anyone here?”

The police weren't the only ones trying to keep an eye on the crowd. Nicky was wandering through the park, keeping an eye out for trouble makers. He had been quite surprised by Skylar's offer to do the concert and even more surprised that she had actually gone ahead to do it. The fact that she's somehow managed to convince other bands to join in the venue to raise money for the city's underprivileged was a score and a half.

He wasn't a cop and it wasn't his job to keep drugs and alcohol out of the venue. It was his job to keep trouble out. The drunken and stoned people were just there to have fun. It was the other yahoos, the punks and the losers who were there to have their fun at the expense of others fun that he was looking for. As much as he wasn't willing to let the vampires know how much he appreciated the enormous help, he wasn't going to allow anything to go wrong, even if it meant going fuzzy on somebody's ass.

He was aware of the looks he was getting from some of the women in the park. Normally he would have been more than happy to respond but this time he was going to give up the sexy asshole role for the determined protector of the venue.

NOTHING was going to go wrong.

Janey is sitting in the common room waiting for her mom to finish work for the night. She is wearing her black leather jacket over her red tank top, her best pair of black leather pants, and biker boots. Her fingers are covered in silver rings and she has silver necklace with a celtic box cross on it. I hope I look alright for the concert. Maybe I need to do something with my hair. Good God, they can all fluff their own pillows, I don't want to be late for the concert.
"Hey Sunflower, I mean mom, you ready to go???
"Ohh, hello Kricket, are you heading for the concert, because if you are, you can come with Sunflower, I mean Mom and I"

After checking the weather network four times Kyoko had concluded that it was going to be perfect. Well, jacket perfect anyways. The chill of winter was gone but had yet to lend it's way to summer weather. All in good time. She'd been looking forward to the event for some time now, she hadn't been able to get out much. What with talking to contractors about her caved in roof, and work here and at the tattoo studio, the field wasn't the only place she was running back and forth on.

The kitsune reveled in the nap she'd woken from just two hours prior. Now showered, fed and clothed she was ready to go. She checked her image in the mirror before she took off. Her hair had been curled only slightly and the eyes that looked back at her were emerald green, the wonders of contacts. Her shoulders were covered with a black denim jacket over top her usual ensemble save for laced over her skinny jeans and nigh to her knees - and the reason she'd started getting ready so long ago - were a pair of twenty hole docs. She smiled, satisfied with the result and headed off into the common room.

She saw the three congregated in the room as she stepped out into the space. She had to smile, for as weird as this experience had been she certainly liked her team mates.
"Evenin' to ya ladies! Are we headin' out then?" She greeted in her distinctive Irish accent.

Janey’s offer was solemnly considered by Krickett, finger to her lip pouting slightly before nodding. She looked down at her outfit skinny jeans artfully faded so they looked older then they were, a baby doll shirt that was fitted under her small bust the antique cream lace top dating back to well Krickett was not sure but she had had it forever or so it seemed. She had put on a pair of Converse high top runners on her the black shoe decorated with teddy bears in a multitude of pastel shades.

“Do you think I should add blue and pink streaks to my hair Janey” she asked “I got the spray in stuff but I am not sure though it would match my shoes don’t you think. He looked at the pink yellow and blue teddy bears and then back at Janey.

With a smile Krickett turned towards Kyoko and skipped to the kitsune acknowledging the greeting “Kyoko do I need streaks in my hair?” she demanded “or am I ready to go as is and yes please Janey and Janey’s Sunflower Mom a ride be so much quicker then the bus! Did you know crazy people always ride on the bus?”

Richard walked through the crowds tensely, the obviousness of his job showed through his every step despite the plain clothes. He spotted a familiar face in the crush of people, one who always had information but never quite seemed to share it all. Richard approached from behind and placed his hand on his acquaintances shoulder "Nicky, I didn't take you for a Skylar groupie"

It didn't take much to convince mom that grandpa had decided at the last minute to change his fishing trip into an impromptu training trip, after all they were in the middle of nowhere where else could she be going. Mom didn't know about the old radio she had stolen years ago on one of their supply runs into town, that had become her link to the outside world beyond her mother's paranoia and ramblings about ancient evil and her grandpa's constant training and tests, where she had heard of the charity concert. She barely made it to the greyhound stop out front of the town convenience store on time and then spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening riding the bus.

The 17 year old walked out of the downtown bus terminal with her back pack over one shoulder, flushed with both excitement and fear. Her mother wouldn't even know she was gone for another 2 weeks, her mother believed that she was off in the Algonquin with Grandpa Jim again and thus unreachable. It was Skylar's songs that had finally given her the courage to head out, and it seemed more than just coincidence when this charity concert was scheduled so quickly and right on the day Grandpa was heading out on a fishing trip.

"WOW" the city looked so much bigger than anything she'd ever seen before and there were so many people.

She looked down at the directions she had gotten from the bus driver on how to get to Gage Park, and began walking towards main and hughson to catch the number 5 Delaware.

Kyoko smiled apologetically at the girl in her lacy top and brown locks. "That spray in stuff won't work so well in your hair because it's dark, I have the same problem. But, we can do this," The kistune mumbled the last bit, un-clipping a large hair clip from the strap of her bag and gently and mothering-ly flipping Krickett's hair up into a lazy-girl's bun. The devil may care effect seemed concert appropriate and the silver of the clip matched the classic lace of the top.

"This way we also can get on our way. How's that?" She said in her Irish brogue, smiling bright as she pointed her to a mirror.

"And to you lad" She said in Jamal's direction "I'm sure there's room in the car for ya, and if no one else will watch ya I will. I'd hate to be the cinderella all cooped up when everyone else is at the ball...Or so to speak."

"But also it's up to the driver" She said looking to Janey and Sunflower.

Kyoko’s solution to her dilemma made Krickett feel better rushing to look in the mirror and primping for a few minutes. “Oh I look perfect” she said excitedly and then rushed over to hug the Kitsune,

Jamal’s entrance was noted and Krickett looked him over. “A little old for a babysitter, lets just hang together?” she suggests to the youth. Trying to place him she suddenly smiles, “You were at the bank handcuffed to Nemo yes?”

Not waiting for Jamal’s answer Krickett moves to the boy and hugs him too “We will be buds and hangout and cheer for Skylar. I know it is old people music but hey it’s a great cause and we know her personal like” With this observation the bubbly Krickett turns back to Janey and her Mother.

“Shall we go then Janey and Janey’s Sunflower Mom?”

"Are you kidding me? We don't even need this to prove it, the support in southern Ontario is obvious and unless your going to put a second team in the ACC, and don't get me started on how stupid that idea is, the only remotely NHL ready arena in the region is Copps"......

The heaviness in her chest and limb receded as, the last remnants of royal purples and rich orange and pink colors outside department 7 headquarters marked the transition from day to twilight.

Babadora opened her eyes and breathed in. She stared at the battery operated digital clock that she had glued to the inside of the lid noting the time to be 8:30pm as she breathed in the rich scent of the earth in her coffin. Despite being in the lining it had strong and comforting scent to it. With a yawn she opened the inner hatch to her pink metallic coffin.

She padded over to the shower stall in her room and turned on the water until the hot steam curled out from the crack in the bottom. She slipped in enjoying the blissful sensation as the hot water massaged and warmed her cold skin. Showers were one of her many guilty pleasures that she enjoyed and was reluctant to turn the water off. In the end commonsense won out and she got out to towel off.

she crossed the room past the hydroponic set up she paused to open the bar fridge and grab one of the foil baggies that contained the synthetic blood and punched the straw through the top. She paused and poured a handful of pellets into the rabbit cage near by and frowned ever so slightly as they mini lops cringed in the corner until she withdrew her hand and had left check out her wardrobe.

It would be a good night out or at least she wanted it to be that way. Last night Mike had told her that she could attend the Skylar concert and this would be a first to go out but not necessarily have an escort though it was implied that she stick with the group.

It took a few moments to decide what to wear in the end she opted for a pair of faded black jeans and a cream gothic cut shirt and black over vest. Sure it was gothic but it was practical to move about in and yet formal and informal.

Babadora studied herself in the vanity mirror as she dressed. Impassively she stared at her pale reflection noting that she would never change. She was stuck half way between having the body of a child and a young woman. It made life difficult and was something she only had recently come to notice. The presence of the new toreador that she would be seeing concert tonight had made her more self aware that she lacked the curvaceous curves and voluptuous cleavage that Skylar possessed. With a sigh she finished lacing up the vest and got to work on drying her thin fine hair. At least it dint take long to dry and that was something that she was happy for. She brushed her hair and set to work adding the smallest touch of makeup adding a hint eye liner and modest amount of mascara to her long lashes. The end result helped to intensify the young vampires storm cloud colored eyes making them stand out more.

Content with the makeup she got to work brushing her teeth and paused afterward to add some cherry lip balm to her lips before she slipped on her Paten leather shoes

Babadora grabbed her top hat and slid it onto her head and grabbed her teddy bear mini backpack and headed out of her room past the common room area.

She picked up the pace a bit more jogging down the wide halls. The hard soles of her shoes hit the floor rhythmically and echoed off the walls as she ran out to the parking lot area. Tonight Department 7 headquarters was letting her out to mingle and interact with the real world. Babadora smiled with excitement the way most children do when they are getting to attend an event they were looking forward to.

She found the others in the parking lot and waved to them as she sprinted to catch up. " Oh good you didn't depart yet. I did try and hurry to the best of my extent. Do you have room for one more? Or will I be calling a cab and securing my own transportation?"

She decided that was an honest and practical question. Most people for some odd reason didn't find her presence comfortable. She liked her coworkers but this was a personal night out and they had no obligations to have to watch over her. She felt it only right to ask rather to assume and leech onto the group to be a third wheel.

She looked up hopefully at the girls and waited patiently for their respective decision

Just have Sunflower give him one of the spare suits, she knows where they are. I'll have Victoria upload the tracking software to your blackberry right now, you'll be able to track any of our suits that are within 10 km of you.... 30 km if you take one of the departments vans, Sunflower can get you the keys for that two if you want it."

Nicky shrugged. "I haven't heard anything," he said. "It's a free concert, to raise awareness and hopefully gather some donations to the food banks. Nobody has said anything about crashing the party or doing anything stupid but that doesn't mean they won't. If I catch wind of any skinheads or bikers selling drugs to kids, you'll be the first one I tell."

Nicky looked at Rick. The cop was a good man and if push came to shove, he would likely help if he knew the truth. "Have you donated anything? Have any of the rest of the Nazi goon platoon?" There was no malice in his tone. It was even mildly teasing. "I'll tell you what, Rick. If you can gather a hundred buck from all the cops slithering through the crowd tonight, I'll see what I can do about getting you in to meet Skylar." He leaned closer. "Rumour has it I have a man on the inside."

Babadora relaxed slightly as the Brujha made her entrance to the parking lot. Despite the vampires hot hotheadedness she liked working with Silver. She had learned over the past couple years to adjust to the fact that she couldn't let the vampire into her room or her hydroponics projects would suffer.

Babadora nodded in greeting. Perhaps agent Darkheart's offer would be the most logical. It was better to ride with Darkheart than with the load of passengers. The vampire would likely be less unsettled by Babadora's unnatural aura and due to her tough nature and attitude wouldn't say anything.

Sliding her top hat off to hold in her hands she looked up at Silver wide eyed and hopeful. Her fingers unconsciously fiddled with the brim of her top hat. "If it isnt too much trouble I would appreciate a ride Agent Darkheart." She replied softly.
